Job Description
Core Duties:
- Assisting carpenters and lead hands with framing, roofing, and decking tasks
- Measuring, cutting, and fastening lumber and materials under supervision
- Loading, unloading, and organizing building materials on-site
- Site cleanup and waste removal throughout the day
- Operating basic hand tools and power tools when authorized and supervised
- Holding, bracing, and supporting materials during installation
- Carrying materials to and from work areas (lumber, plywood, shingles, etc.)
- Following all safety procedures, wearing required PPE at all times
- Taking direction from the foreman, lead hand, and other crew members
Key Expectations:
- Willingness to learn and take instruction
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and working outdoors in all weather
- Comfortable working at heights (roofing, scaffolding)
- Valid driver's licence is an asset
- No experience required — training provided on-site
Qualifications
Required:
- Enrolled in or recently completed a relevant post-secondary program (carpentry, building construction, trades, or similar)
- Physically able to perform demanding outdoor labour (lifting 50+ lbs, working on feet all day)
- Reliable transportation to job sites (or willingness to meet at a central pickup point)
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Training & Development:
- Hands-on training working alongside the crew
- Opportunity to log hours toward a carpentry apprenticeship if enrolled
- Letter of reference at the end of the summer
Other:
- Performance-based raise after a few weeks if they're pulling their weight
- Potential to come back next summer or move into a full-time role
- PPE provided (hard hat, vest, glasses — students must provide their own boots)
