CP1 – Chartwork and Pilotage Level 1

This course is intended to help you prepare for the CP1 Transport Canada exam. It is extremely important to understand chartwork and pilotage and to develop these skills to ensure the safe navigation of your vessel. The CP1 exam is a three-hour exam and consists of 10 multiple choice questions worth 3 marks each, and 5 practical chartwork questions worth 5-15 marks each. We recommend that you spend a minimum of four weeks preparing for this exam.

  • Calculator (you will not be able to use your cell phone as a calculator during the exam)
  • Access to a printer for some documents (optional)
*You have the option of challenging CP2 instead of CP1.
